We follow a thematic curriculum which gives the learning a real context which we believe engages learners far more readily. The whole school follows the same theme every term and, where appropriate, makes links to this in the range of subjects we are obliged to teach as part of the National Curriculum.
To get each topic off with a 'Wow', we endeavour to have a whole school trip in the first couple of weeks so that children have some concrete experience to reflect upon.
It also means that when we have visitors to school we can make more use of them by having them talk to the whole school. Additionally it also makes house based enrichment days possible based on a current topic theme ie Roman Day. The children across the school also have the opportunity to share their learning with each other too!
